Serena Robar - "The Long Tail of Publishing"
Why does Nora Robert get three shelves (or more) at the local Barnes and Noble and they barely carry your new release for a month? Why won't they carry your backlist? They follow the brick and mortar sales model that dictates 80% of the sales comes from 20% of the inventory (better known as the bestseller list). Did you know that model of sales is losing relevance? Going the way of the dinosaur? Have you heard of The Long Tail in economics? Do you understand what filters and niches are? If you want to know how to compete in today's changing market, then this workshop is a MUST for any writer wanting to be competitive in today's landscape.

Time: 10:00 - 4:00
Place: Pam Bowerman's house
Lunch Arrangements: Potluck
|
The workshop is for Olympia RWA members. It will be done in two sessions. The times for each are approximate.
Blend sex and murder into your romantic suspense with the ease of a killer administering poison to her latest victim. Adrianne Lee presents a hands-on workshop with the clues and red herrings to solve the mystery of plotting sensuous who-dun-its.
Session #1 Romantic Suspense Plotting: 10 to noon
Session #2 Conflict: 1:00 - 4:00
For the 2nd Session please visit Adrianne's website,
www.adriannelee.com, and print out the free conflict sheet, and examples, then fill out a blank one for your wip or a story you want to write. We'll share those during the afternoon and discuss how to tighten and heighten the internal and external conflicts in order to make a story bulletproof.
